Report of MERLIN SEMINAR Friday 16th February 2007

On Friday 16th February, 18 delegates attended the first seminar held in our new offices. This was the most we could hold, so some bookings had to be refused!

In the opening session, Keith Hughes gave a detailed presentation of new features and changes in MERLIN v9.0. The main emphasis in v9.0 is the raising of various limits to enable larger jobs to be processed – but there has also been a significant increase in speed.

John Tebboth then described all the many features in MERLIN and MERLIN Toolkit that enable you to work with CSV (Comma Separated Values) data – the use of which is becoming increasingly common.

After the break, John gave an overview of developments in other Merlinco modules – including web and palmtop interviewing, and MTPP (MERLIN to PowerPoint) – and gave the first public demonstartion of MTC (MERLIN to Charts). This module is now included with MERLINPLUS and FASTAB, but can also be used alongside MERLIN.

The final session was an open one, in which plans for MERLIN v9.1 were discussed. These include the processing of Excel XLS files (as oppoised to CSVs) and the automatic parallel reading of two input streams containing data from the same respondents.

We have received positive feedback from delegates – both about the event, and about our plans to organise regular training seminars at our offices for both MERLIN and MERLINPLUS users. These seminars will be advertised on this events page.
